COLD WAR DBQ - BONUS!

RUSH Students:

Is there anyone out there who would like to have a Spring Break, WITHOUT a US History Assignment?

If your answer is "yes," then read on!

Our next assessment piece is a DBQ Essay on the Cold War.  Based on the documents, and your knowledge of US History, you are going to:


• Discuss how the threat of communism during the Cold War affected the
United States in the period from 1945 to 1960

In order to get your Spring Break Assignment waived;

EVERY RUSH STUDENT MUST 
1.  Complete a first, second, and FINAL DRAFT, on the exact due dates. 
2.  Complete a TYPED, HARD COPY of the FINAL DRAFT, that is spell/grammar checked
3.  Have all drafts signed by their parents. 
4.  Actively participate in peer review sessions during class
5.  Include a grading rubric!  


Due dates:
1st Draft - Monday April 1

2nd Draft - Tuesday April 2
FINAL DRAFT - THURSDAY APRIL 4

HW Assignments 3/26/12

Hello, RUSH students:

Here are your HW assignments for the week of 3/26/2012.  Effective 1/31/12, all HW assignments must be accompanied by a parent's signature, in order for you to receive credit for completing the assignment.

MONDAY/TUESDAY NIGHT: Complete the Cold War Hot 24 project for Wednesday March 28, 2012.   

WEDNESDAY:Finish the Hot 24 

THURSDAY:  Print out the Cold War DBQ.  If you can print out an extra copy for a friend, please do so!  


Complete the DBQ questions.   


Friday: Begin drafting your essay.  1st draft due Monday.  Remember, this is an important assignment, for you and your team-mates!

Due to a problem with the link, the deadline for test corrections has been extended.   You may hand the corrections in on THURSDAY March 22nd.  Corrections must be completed in the format specified on the test correction sheet.  For more information on test corrections, click here

1) Go to the NARA (National Archives and Records) Website. Click on the link below, and print out the worksheet.

2) The title of the cartoon you are going to be watching is "Make Mine Freedom." Before you watch the cartoon, complete "Step 1" section "B"

3) Check out this "old school" cartoon, entitled "Make Mine Freedom." Here are the links for the video.

4) Complete the rest of the worksheet. Due WEDNESDAY!

THE COLD WAR "HOT 24" Presentation
Listed below are terms, and concepts related to the Cold War, which I've called the "Hot 24." These terms, concepts, etc. are the most common subject of mult. choice questions, essays, etc. on the Regents exam.

Your mission: For each term,

1. Identify what it is.
2. Its purpose: What/why it was done.
3. Its significance: Why was it important?
4. Locate, Draw, create a visual aid for each term.
5. Arrange the visuals, and definitions in a creative manner of your choosing.  This can be, to quote the rock band Journey, "any way you want it." Create a poster, make a video, do a PowerPoint.  It's entirely up to you.
