Our First Blog Assignment:

Hi, Everyone:

Thanks again for checking in. Before we get to the question, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate how hard all of you have been working. Keep it up, and we are going to do some amazing things this year.

OK (that's for you, 902!). Here's your assignment. And, no, YOU DON'T HAVE TO COPY THE QUESTION!!!

What type(s) of homework assignment would be "meaningful" to you? In other words, what type of assignments would be important to you. By important, I don't mean studying for a big test. I'm talking about assignments that you would care about doing. Things you would put your best effort into. Things that you would (is it possible?) ENJOY working on.

Please post an honest, serious, and meaningful reply to this question. It would also be cool if you would reply to other people's comments as well. Make sure that you leave your name and class in your reply, so I may be able to give you credit for completion of the assignment.

Thanks, everyone. See you in school!

Mr. T

The homework assignments I would be interested or meaningful in me are investigating about world war 1 and 2. This is basiclly interesting to me because then I would learn when the war started and who was involved in it. I would also like to learn about the most important people recognized in the USA because then i would learn why they are so imporatant and why they are still recognized until this day on.

These are all good ideas, folks. But don't think of specific topics. Think of the TYPES of things that you'd like to do.

The type of assignment I would enjoy working on would be things about immingrants and the wars. To me learnung how the people that made this country work is amazing. I learn how much they sufferd. I would like to work on the wars becuase it would be something fun to learn how the soilder acted and how the country changed with the war. I will put all my effort in your class but I would really enjoy those subjects.

The kind of project i would be interested in doing a mini-project.(like how erica said). I would prefer to do a project like that because its more interesting, and creative, while still making us use our minds. For example, the mini-project for the "What America Means To Me" was a project i'd like to do more of. We print out pictures, and then write a paragraph or two about the subject.

Types of assignments i would enjoy doing are projects. Projects that have to do with the beginning of the U.S. I like this subject because with the research I do, I will be able to learn how the colonies started and how they got their independence. Learning about the beginning of the U.S. is very interesting.

What's up, Everyone?

Thanks again for posting. I appreciate your input.

A lot of you have said "mini-projects." Very cool idea. Small things along the way lead to big gains later.

mmmK (for you, Freddie and Alan). What Types of projects would you like to complete? WebQuests (if you don't know what one is, that's OK)? Role-Play Activities? Plays? Raps? PowerPoints?

Again, the more I get from you all, the better. Thanks, and good luck on 'da Quiz tomorrow, y'all!

A woking assignment that would be meaningful to me is one that has us express our own personal opinion. This allows us to put our own thoughts and emotions in our work. If the work relates directly to us we will be much more interested on doing it. Also assignments where you have to do something creative like make a newspaper. All these things can make an assignment meaningful

Hey Mr.T,

I think that homework that has to do with creativity and some art skills would be most meaningful to me! I love to be creative it is very fun...Almost like the project on WHAT AMERICA MEANS TO ME when we had to use pictures and creativity while we wrote an one page essay. Well I hope you take this into consideration!
THANK YOU ~~

think that doing mini-projects are better than doing big asiengments because they are less stressful, funner and it is better than doing a lot of reaserch on one topic.
A topic that i enjoy learning about is space. i would work really hard if i had to do a project on space but i dont think that has to do with American history, i think it has to do mostly on science.

I say that the assignment which would be interesting will be some mini-projects like the class did for the Regents Review Book. The mini-project was fun and it was very interesting learning new vocabulary words. I think the homework assignment are very long and the textbook is very thick. Also, the assignment should be a little bit shorter and I want the assignment to be good and interesting. The most thing that I like to do are to type homeworks on the internet like a blog. Blogs are fun and they are helpful to you.

Thanks, everyone, for their input so far. I will do my best to keep the textbook assignments to a minimum.

You can help do that as well, by doing something very simple. READING the TEXTBOOK. I was discussing this with Simone today in class. Yeah, the book is over 1100 pages (lucky you. back in my day we had stone tablets LOL). Anyway, if you read just SIX lousy pages a night, you would finish the book in 6 months (which would be right around April).

Sometimes, though, we have to do the "boring" assignment. Musicians, athletes, etc. all have "boring" parts of their disciplines. However, we do them because they help us when it's game time. I hope you can understand what I mean by this. C'ya tmw!
