1. The bird is a stork. When children asked about how babies were made parents used to say that a bird called a stork brought them to their houses. Storks represent communism in the Soviet Union, and and the automobile represents the U.S. being the doctor. They are racing toward Europe.

The events in th years after World War II the cartoonist is referring to are the Truman Doctrine and the Marshall Plan, about the Soviet Union trying to take over all of Europe and spread communism, how the U.S. was trying to stop them and help rebuild Europe.

As seen for many Americans communism carries chaos which would cause a lot of problems.
