Thematic Essay: Constitutional Issues

The Constitutional Convention of 1787 adopted several compromises to resolve disagreements over major issues facing the new nation.

Task:

Identify two issues from the Constitutional Convention of 1787 (what were two disagreements that occurred?).

For each issue identified


• Describe the disagreement that arose over the issue at the C.C. (tell us about the disagreement; don’t just say what it was! Who was it between? What was it over?)
• Explain how the issue was resolved through the use of Compromise (Give the details behind the compromises; how did they work? What did each side get?

You may use any Cold War problems from your study of United States history. Some
suggestions you might wish to consider include, but are not limited to:

1 A lot of the people didn’t want a democracy for their government because they didn’t want the people to have all the power many were scared that if the power was give fully to the people the nation would go down.

2 The states feared a strong central government because they didn’t want to be bossed around by some one else they wanted to make all the decisions on there own and with a strong central government that wouldn’t be possibly.

3 The confederation was weak in a way because it gave power to the government but they had no sauce of power so all the laws and everything they were allowed to do they couldn’t because they had no one to support them they didn’t think it out before they came up with confederations.

4 Their were many causes of the constitutional convention one was that the north states wanted to convince the national government to make the southern states to pay taxes on exported goods.

5 Compromising played a big role in writing the constitution because every one was happy because they got their opinions heard.

6 The slave trade was a issue at the constitutional convention because many said that slaves were no good that they would rune thing nation and others said that if slaves weren’t around how would the south work and make money slaves were big part of that. .

7 All the states established a strong government where every one was safe and was treated equal they had three branches and they all had something they need to take care of there were cheeks and balances so no one over abused their power.
