Today I reasearched the case of Brown v. Board Of Education (1954). The case was centered around Oliver Brown and his daughter, who had been prohibited from attending an all white school that was closer to her home than her segregated school. Brown argued that though separate but equal facilities were constitutional, the premise was not being followed and "colored" facilities were in disrepair. The case took place in Topeka Kansas, and questioned the rights placed under the 14th amendment as well as the declaration that all men were to be created equal. The decision handed down by the court read " Separate educational facilities are inherently unequal" and forced schools to desegregate, expanding the civil liberties of African Americans.
