What reasons might explain why America seems to be more willing to help other nations than people in our own country?
For example, in the movie "When the Levees Broke," we learned that the US was able to get supplies into Sri Lanka faster than they did to New Orleans.

I think we are more concerned for other nations because we use them.We are nice to the other nations because we need them to give us their recourses so we are kind to them.That is why the government didnt attend to new orleans right away but attended to Sri lanka the next day.

The reason that might explain why America seems to be able to be more willing to help other nations than our own country might be because their govenment might not be able to provide guidence and help like ours in America. Our people even though they were in the greatest danger of all were able to atleast get themselves up and out of the hurricane. Others mmight not have been. We are also involved in other countries

The reason why America is willing to help other nations than the citizens of this nation is that the materials that we use here in America are from other countries and we don't want to provoke those countries because they would stop giving those materials to us. I think that America is more concerned about other countries than ours becasue if we didn't help the people in Sri Lanka that country would think less of us and not give us materials.

I think some reasons why America seems more willing to help other nations than people in our own country is that they want to keep the image or reputation of the U.S. having a wealthy and great lifestyle. I think that they are always ready to help other nations because in the U.S. we are fortunate enough to not suffer from as many natural disasters. I also think the U.S. is very greatful for everything our country can provide us and would like to help other nations that are not as fortunate.
I do think sometimes the U.S. is to concerned about being helpful to other nations that are in need. They sometimes help our own country less and that is not fair at all. The goverment should have been A LOT more prepared and helpful during Hurricane Katrina. I also think they should have done as much or even more than they would have done if it was any other nation or our own.

Based on today's class, the United States Of America seems to be more willing to help other nation than the people in our own country because America has been following internationalism since the 1940's which is a foreign policy that deals with helping nations that are in trouble and also allow the U.S. to protect its investments in terms of politics,military, and economics.America has been helping other nations since some nations have natural resources that are very limited such as oil. One example of this would be America's relationship with Venezula. Even though the President of Venezula critisizes the Americans but America ignores them because of the oil supply they get from Venezula. So America has been concern with other nations rather than its own people because of a specific reason that is protect its interest in other nations.

I think that Americans might help other nation´s more than peole of it´s own country because with other nations the US can recive more money/things. So it will benifit the country econmicly.
This is a hard question to consider, but it is very interesting. Maybe America is more willing to help other people in other nations, because they will have something to offer in return. It is strange though that America would want to help out other people that are not even citizens first. It could be that they need more guidance and materials than we do, or it could be that America wants to befriend that certain nation in order to get something out of it. Maybe they want to do trading or something with the economy, and needs another nations help. This is something that I don't really think about all the time, and that's why I am unsure, but I think it is something that should be focused on. Maybe if they help that nation, it will create a better community and they won't feel threatened by us.

I think the U.S. is concerned more about other coutries than its own because they want to gain respect and "fame" as a result of doing that. They show that they have resources and "prove" to other nations that we are simply the "best." They need to show others, except their own people, that we are prepared for "anything."

The reason I think that the US supplied on farther nations than themselves is there reason for persanol benefits. They want to stay on good terms with other countries so they will be able to get what they need. So I would say that they don't want to spend up on themselves but, save it for other countries.

Americans seen to be willing to help other nations than people in our own country because we get alot of trades from foreign countries such as oil their more concerned about other nations for the reasoning is that if we go to war with that nation we cant get that trade so then it makes things bad for us.
America is what you call a diverse country. The Government does things for their own benefitial reasons, not only for them but for their own country too(to make it "the best" or even better). They help other countries to know they have already gotten something in return such as valuble material or things. America is more concerned about other nations because if we weren't we wouldn't have half the things we have or we may have much less and in need of, such as oil or gas. We're not concerned about our country because we all know or say that everything's under control and that we have a great system of Government.

America seems to be more willing to help other nations than people in our own nation because people in other nations have what we want. Basically were sucking up to them to get what we want. For example: if another nation is providing most of our nation with oil and they have a natural disaster and then theres a natural disaster in our nation who do you think we will help first? Of course the other nation because they supply most of us with there oil. If we cater to them second they might get mad and not give us any oil, which is a major thing. So basically we depend on other nations to live and so when there in trouble we need to help them. We are using them for there (oil) resources. Its sad but its the basic truth. We would rather help other people for there things then our own people and have our own things. For example we would rather help another nation who we depend on for oil then help people in our nation and use some other kind of power (steam from volcanoes, or hydrogen powered cars etc.) We are so lazy we have to use other peoples things but in the end we have to pay. If we would have used our own things in the beginning then we could help ourselves. So in the end it would be a win win. Of course it doesn't work like that in America.
I strongly believe that America seems to be more willing to help other nations than people in our own country because America has to keep its relations with other countries in order to have an alliance with them. Therefore when America needs something then they can go to the countries and ask them for it.

I think America is willing to help other nations then the people in our own country is because helping other nations means the US is probably wanting some type of money out of it. They probably feel as if they help other nations the others nation will do the same for the US. If the US is on a good level with other countries then that means more nations to trade with. I believe money plays a big role in this. I think that it was very wrong and pretty embarissing when the government couldnt take care of people living in this country. Meanwhile the US was helping other nations faster then its ever helped its own nation.

I think our country is more concerned wit hother countries than ours is so that we can have the power of buying and selling supplys. One main resource is probably oil and our country needs that for gas so our country would probably care for that country than ours.

I think that the United States is a very selfish country, some people might not think so but i do. The unites states help other countries get what they want, like trade or things to buy for a cheaper price. This is like a person helping an old woman across the street but for a price.
It is terrible that the government didn't help people in New Orleans. Their people were starving and dying and wouldn't save them because they 're not getting anything for it.

I think that the reasons is because of trade. America, needs its trades for the country because of certain products needed. Being nice to other nations would keep our trust with them, keeping the trade going.
I think that we are more concerned with other nations then our own country because other nations supply us with things and goods we need. Without them, we wouldn't have as much as we do now. We want peace with the other nations, and don't want things to start. We can't start things with our own country, but others we can.

my opinion on this matter is that America appears to be more concerned about other countries rather than America is to keep business going and to get all the supplies that are necessary to have a running country. although to help others you must help your self but it is clear that American leaders are not seeing this. which concludes to them helping other countries. in other words they are helping other countries to get something in return.
We benefit greatly from helping other nations. Often our "aid" is in the form of low interest loans which in time will be collected. We may never collect financial compensation but political pull.
We use the guise of aid to cloak our ambition to plant our flag in the soil of other nations. (ask Cuba, Philippines, or Puerto Rico)
Unfortunately domestic aid isn't really good for business. When you look strictly at the return on investment helping victims of New Orleans is not profitable (unless of course you ignore union rules and hire cheap labor to do the clean up.)
I apologize if this is a private conversation, but it just struck a cord with me. On paper it makes no sense to help our own citizens, but we need to remember USA is not a coorperation.
i think our nation helps other nations more than it helps itself beacsue we benefit a lot from other countries. most of our resources are from other countries, so if we help the other countries then the countries will always also help us.

Some of the reasons that our nation is willing to help other nations than the people in our own country is because I think of economic issues. Some nations in contrasts to ours don't have alot of money or really poor. Also they might not have a good leaders to guide their countries through hardships and problems.
The reason America is willing to tend to other nations rather then peoples in it's own country because of political and financial reasons. America needs natural resources from other countries so it needs the other nations. Olso the politics come into place. This is not right something different needs to be done. Its not fair to the citizens of the U.S.

I think that America is more willing to help other nations because doing so will benefit the US in turn. We maintain neutrality with many countries for the sole purpose of trade.
Domestic Policy seems to be less of an issue because there is no consolation (or rewards to reap) from the government's efforts. I must admit that I have little faith in our government, and from my prior knowledge and experience in US History it is my opinion that America cares more about political gain than the general welfare of its people.
