New England town meetings (1620) - Limited the growth of democracy because you were only allowed to have a voice in government if you were a christian male who owned property.
FOC (1639) - made democracy grow because rulers of the colony were elected. This also limited democracy because because you were allowed to be a ruler of a colony if you were a christian and you had to be approved by the church.
maryland toleration act(1649)-This limited democracy because you were only granted freedom if you were christian and you got the death penalty if you were a jew or an atheist.
