I don't think history is important but I do think that it is interesting to learn about. I always found life in the 1860's so fascinating. The clothes they wore and all the different cultures and beliefs they had. Back then people spoke differently, they had a lot to say and I think that this era has gotten so lazy, we dont say thou or shalt we say things like you and don't, that is so boring! We dont speak our own mind, we only speak thoughts that others have put into our minds. Before us people spoke their minds and stood up for they believed in, there was courage and honor and we dont have that now. Back then, waking up in the morning was all people needed, it was such a blessing to them to wake up and go for a walk or a ride on their carriages that were being pulled by their horses. I would love to go back in time and live a day in the 1860's. I would want to dress like them and wear a corset. They dressed so formal back then, even when they weren't trying to. I don't think that learning more about these types of things would change how interesting it all is to me. So history is kind of boring with some things but other things really get me thinking on how much this world has changed, sometimes its not for the best, like before there were no cell phones so people actually talked to each other in person, and thats what I think is the best, I don't want to read what you write on facebook, I want to hear you speak your mind in person and to actually see you being yourself. History can be fun if we actually tried to pay attention.

Assignment #2
5 Reasons: History Helps Us Understand People and Societies
History Helps Us Understand Change and How the Society We Live in Came to Be
History Contributes to Moral Understanding
History Provides Identity
Studying History Is Essential for Good Citizenship
I picked these five reasons because these are the reasons that stood out the most to me in the author’s article. History helps us build foundations of knowledge from the past, helping us see how people and societies have changed throughout the era of mankind. It shows how we have progressed not only as a race, but as a society. History also reflects upon the things various people have done, good and bad, that contribute to the moral understanding on societies. It contributes to our moral understanding by showing people who have done bad things, so that we may not repeat the same mistakes he/she did, as opposed to people who have done good things, so that we may grow as individuals and become better people. Identity is another good reason, because as people, we all need to know who we are, and where we are from. History can provide a foundation for one’s identity through past generations. Rich history of a family can lead to several business opportunities as well, and knowing about one’s history can be beneficial. Studying history is required for good citizenship because it would instill a sense of loyalty and patriotism within the citizens, and urges individuals to help contribute to their country. I honestly believe that studying History will always be important. Not only is it beneficial to us for us to recognize our roots and the debts we have to this country, but history helps us recognize things that could have been stopped in the past, and help us make the right decisions instead of enabling tragedies to happen. We learn from our mistakes through the past, and I believe that without recording what has happened in the past, we will never be able to learn to do things better in the future. My perceptions have not changed, because this article only helped boost my views even further.
