After carefully reviewing the amendments, answer the questions that follow.  You will respond to the questions, by posting a "comment" to this blog post.  It's a good idea for you to have two windows open, so you can work on the questions, while looking at the Bill of Rights.

1.  Why do you think there might be controversy over freedom of speech?

2.  Why do you think the right against unreasonable searches and seizures is so important to most people?

3.  What do you think might happen if a person could be tried twice for the same crime?

1. There is controversy over freedom of speech because it can easily be abused. This is because some people go into the streets and yell anti-american slogans and protest that they can protest there freedom of speech. Anything that can harm or disturb peace is not allowed.
2. The right against unreasonable searches and seizures is so important to most people. This is because when the british were here they would do that. They had felt that it was unfair that the british had treated us like this so they had made it illegal.
3. I believe that if a person could be tried twice for a crime that the judge and the jury could become bias. If they were tried again the judge and the jury would want it to be over with so they would quickly choose. This would be unfair because it could be false.
4. If a person was getting arrested and they did not know their rights they can do something to harm themselves. If a police officer tells you what can help or hurt you than you can decide what to do. That is what the Miranda rights do.
5. I define the right of privacy as the right to protection. This means that someone can not come into your house without your permission. It means that you can think what you want to think.

1.I think that there is a controversy over freedom of speech. I believe this because although people should be able to say what they believe in, and that there should be able to voice their opinions. There should be a limit and they should not be able to say hate symbols or racist comments towards other creating a controversy between what there freedom of speech includes.
2.I think that the right of no unreasonable search and seizures is important to people. This is because a person may have no viable reason and search a person based off of stereotypical suspicion. They maybe be searched just because there ethnicity no for an actual reason. Showing it is important to have a good reason.
3.In the scenario that a person was tried to the same crime twice, the jury may change the verdict of decision. There opinions may change resulting in a different outcome.
4.In my perspective I believe that the Miranda right protects me because it can protect me from police brutality. In the situation that a person was arrested the police officer may say things to change what the person says to use it against them. But the Miranda right allows us to not be harassed in the moment and remain silent.
5. My definition of the right of privacy is my personal information stays personal. Unless in the scenario that I give permission I think that no one should have access to it without warrant or reason.

1) There might be controversy over freedom os speech, because if you say what ever you want, some citizens might be offended from your words.
2) Because, if the right for search and seizure is confiscated. then people will lose their privacy, government officials can search your home regardless of the situation, therefore, a lot of people will feel uncomfortable with having all their belongings searched.
3) If a person was tried for the same crime after proven not guilty, the justice court may have different opinions and keep sending them to crime until they are "proven" guilty.
4) It protects you because the government cannot prosecute individuals for conduct that affects their fundamental rights, such as exercising the rights of religion, assembly or speech without having a compelling reason to do so.
5) The right to privacy is the concept that one's personal information is protected from the public eyes. U.S. Justice Louis Brandeis called it "the right to be left alone."

. Why do you think there might be controversy over freedom of speech? There might be controversy over freedom of speech because there is no law prohibiting people from expressing how they feel by saying what they want. Also people can believe what they want they have freedom to religiously be whoever they want which is incredibly fair. Also people can publish whatever they want as long as they tell the truth.so if they lie there not aloud to publish it.This is good because people have freedom of speech through writing or typing.

2. Why do you think the right against unreasonable searches and seizures is so important to most people? The right against unreasonable searches and seizures is so important to most people because if police or others can just go into another persons house they honestly don't have privacy. It's okay as long as the person has a warrant to check their home. They can only be searched if it's obviously there's drugs in a persons home and they're visible and the cop can see.

3. What do you think might happen if a person could be tried twice for the same crime? If a person could be tried twice for the same crime they would get sentenced more years in prison for repeating the same crime multiple times. This is fair because at first you get warned or you get sentenced a few years and if you do it again you should be sentenced to jail time especially longer for repeating the same crime.

4. How do the Miranda (5th Amendment) rights protect you? The 5th amendment rights protect you because you can't be held accountable for a crime unless there's evidence that you've done it.Also if a person is found guilty the first time next time they won't be sentenced to jail time for the SAME deed. You also can't be sent to prison until evidence proves you have committed a crime.

5. How do you define the right to privacy? I define the right to privacy as having person space and others respecting you want to be isolated or not associated with others at the moment.Privacy is significant because if you don't have it then you''' feel that you're rights are being violated and your rights shouldn't be violated since the Bill of Rights job is to protect your rights and keep them safe.Overall privacy is important and it shouldn't be violated unless someone has the right to if it's necessary.

The fifth amendment protects you because the given jury of random citizens shows true opinions and no favoritism to either side of the case.

1. There might be controversy over freedom of speech because if someone expressed their opinion openly, another person could disagree with it and get offended.

2. The right against unreasonable searches and seizures is very important to most citizens because they would want privacy in their home and belongings.

3. If a person is tried twice for the same crime, the person would have the same consensus as the first trial.

4. The Miranda rights protect us by giving us an attorney if we don’t have one and we don’t have to do anything that goes against our rights.

5. I define the right to privacy as the ability to keep your private information to yourself without anyone knowing. If you are unwilling to give any content that is secret then you don’t have to.

1) There might be controversy over freedom of speech because some people might be aginst what other people have to say. Some people might of a different religion and could hear someone talking about there own religion and then that would start conflict.

2) The right against unreasonable searches and seizures is so important to most people because you wouldn't want someone to walk up to you and search you, or to come to your house and search around your house. You may be hinging something even if it's not illegal it's still someone coming and invading your personal space.

3) I think that if a person could be tried twice for the same crime then there is a chance that could be a different outcome to the trial. They could possibly find out something that could help them prove you wrong and then be tried again and be proven guilty for what they did in the second trial. The person could also go back to jail if proven guilty again for the same case.

4)The Miranda rights protect you from being tried about the same case again. You also do not have to be a witness or provide evidence against yourself in a case. You may also have the right to a jury in your trial.

5)I would define the the right to property as someone not being able to check you, your house, your car, your phone, or anything that belongs to you unless they have your permission or they have a warrant. I think this because this is your your stuff you own it and that is your right to that piece of property.

1. There might be controversy over freedom of speech because for some people since they have the freedom to say anything and share their ideas, they could go against the government and or abuse this right.

2. This right would be important to most people because it would protect their right to privacy.

3. False claims and accusations would occur more often.

4. The fifth Amendment protects you from false accusations and protects personal property.

5. The right to keep your personal life, belongings, and secrets away from anyone else other than you.

1- I think that there might be a controversy over freedom of speech because one person can say something and other person might disagree. Also this can be for religion also, if someone shares their belief and wants everyone to learn it, another person can disagree and say thats against their religion to learn another belief.
2- I think the right against unreasonable searches and seizures is so important to most people because, they would feel like the cops or detectives would be invading their personal space. Another reason on why it is so important is because they need to have a reason to search your personal belongings.
3- If a person was tried twice for the same crime he/she can be proven guilty or not guilty like on his/her first trial. It states "No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger."
4- The 5th amendment rights protect you because you cant go into trial again. The bill of rights says " You can't be forced to be a witness or provide evidence against yourself in a criminal case."
5- I define the right of privacy as it is your property and no one can check your house, phone, etc.

1: There might be controversy over freedom of speech because the government is not allowed to force a state religion upon you or punish you for practicing a different religion that you have choose. You are allowed to express your feelings as long as it is true.
2: People should feel safe inside and outside of their houses or properties with out being accused of something they didn't do. And if so they need a warrant to prove they have the right to do so.
3:I believe the things that would happen if a person could be tried twice for the same exact crime that more people would get caught, because theres more time to prove weather your guilty or not, and they could have found more evidence that the person is guilty.
4: The Miranda amendment protects me because you can't be guilty without show of evidence, or the trial has proved your guilty.
5: I define the right to privacy as no one should be allowed to your house, property, anything you own. By that i mean no one should have any right to go on your personal belongings with out asking the owner for permission.

2. Why do you think the right against unreasonable searches and seizures is so important to most people?

1) I think there might be controversy over freedom of speech because people would get really offended of what other people say. Everyone would just offend other people and it would get them into a fight. For example if someone was exercising their right to freedom of speech they would just go around to people yelling offensive stuff it would get them in a fight. However it’s not illegal because it's the first amendment

2) I think if the right for search and seizure was taken away then any police officers can just search you down whenever they want. Police can enter your house whenever they want which would take a lot away from our privacy. For example if a cop pulls you over and a trunk is locked unless they have permission from you or a warrant.

3) I think that if someone was tried for the same crime over and over again the justice department would not stop taking them to court until they are thrown in jail. The reason for this is because if the police know that someone is guilty but they can’t prove it then they will keep on prosecuting that person over and over each time they find just al ittle bit of evidence.

4) This amendment protects you by not allowing people to prosecute you for the same crime over and over. This amendment also says that the government can’t take your property without paying you market value.

5) I define the privacy right as a way of saying one person's personal information can not be leaked to the public. For example if someone were to leak all your credit cards and bank info to the public they can not do that. That is how I define the privacy right.

1. Why do you think there might be controversy over freedom of speech?
There might be controversy of the freedom of speech, some people may not like someone opinion but someone can't do anything about it. The government can't do anything about it either.

2. Why do you think the right against unreasonable searches and seizures is so important to most people?
The right against unreasonable searches and seizures is important because people have the natural right to having privacy. Unless a agency or government have good reason to search your property then they can't

3. What do you think might happen if a person could be tried twice for the same crime?
I think what would happen is the person would most likely get the different result and it would seem like they just want to put the criminal behind bars for no reason. It would seem unjustified.

4. How do the Miranda (5th Amendment) rights protect you?
The 5th amendment protects us by we have a fair chance against the government. We also juried by citizens first before you can any type of punishment from the government. Also we have someone who can help us defend our innocents.

1. Why do you think there might be controversy over freedom of speech?
Controversy will take place over freedom of speech because some people may disagree with your opinion. Riots, protests, and petitions are usually caused because people often my be bias against each other. This often leads to war just because a country might disagree over a topic with an other country. As a result, the ability of freedom will lead to conflicts.

2. Why do you think the right against unreasonable searches and seizures is so important to most people?
The right against unreasonable searchers and seizers is important to most people because people want the ability to have privacy. They dont want their belongings to be searched without their consent to permission. People who are violating other people's property or belongings must have a really good reason.

3. What do you think might happen if a person could be tried twice for the same crime?
I think that the jury could have multiple opinions on the suspect. If they are tried twice for the same crime, multiple evidence could be presented. Which leads to a hard time for the juries to make the decision if the suspect is guilty or not. If the suspect is tried twice he may also receive multiple consequences.

4. How do the Miranda (5th Amendment) rights protect you?
It can protect you because it protects you from being questioned by the capital. For example while in war people cant blame you for the cause of it. It protects you from being in jeopardy. And if you do not want to answer a specific question during a testimony, you are allowed to decline.

5. How do you define the right to privacy?
To me, privacy is the ability to not be violated without your concent. For instance you cannot be forced to say personal information about yourself if you dont want to. It is the right to have boundries.

1. Why do you think there might be controversy over freedom of speech?
I think there might be controversy because people may take advantage of their freedom of speech. They can use their freedom of speech to verbally abuse others. People can publish their harsh opinions and criticism which can offend people. While freedom of speech is considered good, it can also do bad.

2. Why do you think the right against unreasonable searches and seizures is so important to most people?
A lot of people may have things they want to keep private. It also gives the people a reassurance that the government cannot just walk into their homes and get them in trouble for anything they find suspicious. Warrants are also not easily obtainable, agencies of government must have a specific reason and must swear under oath to make sure they are telling the truth about these reasons. People are allowed to feel safe about their possessions unless they have an illegal reason not to.

3. What do you think might happen if a person could be tried twice for the same crime?
If a person was able to be tried twice for the same crime then more people would be arrested. Also, people proven "not guilty" could be brought back and arrested for being guilty. Even if they did not commit the crime. It could make trials a lot more complicated and worrisome.

4. How do the Miranda (5th Amendment) rights protect you?
The Fifth Amendment allows you to receive a trial case before being charged. As well as not being allowed to be tried twice for the same crime. People's properties are not allowed to be taken from the government without them paying the market value. So while they do take away your property, you are being paid full price for whatever they take away.

5. How do you define the right to privacy?
My definition of privacy is being able to keep whatever legal thing you want to be hidden. Unless, it is something against the law. The right to privacy to me means not being able to feel threatened against the government's power. You should be able to safe in your home or any of your whereabouts through your right to privacy.

1Freedom of speech has always been controversial and used and fought over and, i feel as if this right of freedom of speech can be overused sometimes.Certain people may be abusing the first ademntmant by cursing at people and using profain words and saying freedom of speech. The First Amendment prohibits the government from taking action to limit your speech.

2.The creaters of the Constitution did not want to create a government with unlimited power. We also have a right to have our own privacy as a citzen.People would be able to steal a lot more of other peoples belongings and it is not right.

3If a person is freed then they cannot be tried again for the same offense in the same state court. They can be set to a trial for a different offense relating to the same incident in federal court.

4.
